How Do Braces Work to Straighten Your Teeth

Braces work by putting constant pressure on the teeth and jaws to move them and change the way the smile looks. The archwire is held in place by the brackets stuck to the teeth. This puts pressure on the teeth. Over time, teeth shift into the right place. Periodontal ligaments are the soft tissue that wraps around the teeth and bone. These ligaments hold the teeth in place, and as the teeth move, they can stretch or shrink.
